Bitcoin, the P2P virtual currency

Hi,

recently, visiting one of the most popular Anonymous site’s to check some of their news, got my attraction at the donate section, a logo that say’s “Bitcoin Accepted”, in my infinite curiosity, i made a click and i learned what bitcoin was and what i want to share with you.

What is bitcoin?

Bitcoin basically is a virtual currency, like mochimedia have the mochicoins, like facebook have their own etc.. but the difference remains in there is no issuer or centralized institution that control how much it worth, how much of this coins are on the market or if there are available or not. like the P2P systems, users run the program and handle the transactions, yours and others one, where you can send and receive bitcoins.

Who or how is the bitcoin value decided ?

As a decentralized currency, the value is made by the goods that can be exchanged with. there are several people and company that will accept bitcoins for services, products, licenses and there are even exchangers that will give you USD,EUR or others virtual currency’s for it. basically the value of the bitcoins is made by their own users.

How i can get the bitcoins?

there are several methods, the most effective is selling something (as a product or service) for bitcoins and with that, buy any other thing or exchange it for USD or other virtual currency in some exchanger. the other method, the hard one, is running the program and check the option “generate coins”, this will use the remaining process in your machine and generate the coins in some period of time. depending the difficulty level and the number of hashes per second that your machine can make, it will take from months to years to generate the first 50 BC. anyway, is free money, and you are contributing to the system.

Where you can exchange bitcoins for real, virtual goods or money?

you will find all the necessary info in their site you will find a large list of services and exchanger that could fit your needs. by the way, i’m also accepting donations in this currency too ;)

there are some advantages and problems in the system that i will detail:

advantages:

*like is a p2p currency, if there are users that run the program and give to the coin a “value” it will live forever.

*like there is no central authority, cannot be taken down by anyone, and no one can screw you up (didn’t even the creator of the app) why the other clients will correct the problem or the variation.

*if there any trustful virtual currency, i think this is the best in the market.

problems:

*the “wallet” where you have the money, is stored in your computer, so you need to have a persistent backup solution, why if not you will lost your money

*like is in your computer, others can steal it

*like is a p2p network, the payments are not instantaneous, if you are not running the app, could take more than 10 minutes to get credited the transaction, and even then, is better to wait for some confirmations from the others node networks to be sure that is legit.

i think is a project to follow and support, using it, donating real or bitcoin money, and a good opportunity to those service providers to offer another payment method in their websites.

Shadow.

How to avoid Stress and Stay motivated

Hi,

the developers/designers/IT people, even that most of us made the work that we love, stay for so much hours in front a computer thinking or some times making a repetitive task, it usually drawn the motivation and start to stressing the people.

in the past years i learned ways to avoid this, that will help you to complete your job and live a more comfortable life :)

Eat well, is the fuel of your body !

here i’m not saying you should eat less/more or make vegetarian. the key is just in the variety and the control in the foods. in a practical example, i usually eated too much meat and coke. and that make me have less energy, as the energy come from the carbohydrates and the time that the body takes to process the food is more. so i started mixing with salads, soups, rice etc.. i didn’t leave the meat 100% but now the meat is at 40-30% of my dish. should be less, but at this quantity is improving my life quality and i don’t feel that i’m eating ugly stuff :) .

also what you drink is important, i drinked too much coke, now i don’t leave it but i mix it with tea and milk.

Disconnect for some time

you can work for more than 8 hours per day if is needed (is not recommended) but you need to take breaks off from the computer, doing anything offline. the sports are a good idea, but if you don’t like any, can also play a instrument or spend some times with beloved ones. you can have 2 types of breaks, small ones of 15 minutes of each hour or big breaks of 1-3 hours after 5-6 of work.

Activity anti-distress

another measure is to make anything that really you want to do as, play a video game or learn a new language of programming, no matter what, whiteout worrying about the time or anything. look for a day or more at the week to make that activity.

this are some simple tips, really it need to be tested by you and see what fits better for your life and personality.

i hope this help you some way :D

LG Mobile Developer Network

Hi,

browsing the web, i realized LG open a site to promote the development of application for LG phones. as i can see, this site offer doc and resources about the cellphones of LG,documentation about flash lite and a customized SDK based in Java ME for the LG phones. i think it’s great initiative, why you can get useful info more easily and share questions and answer with the comunity. at the same time, i would like LG concentrate efforts to integrate the android plattforms for the phones to finally set a standard for the mobile market and not like now, when you need to develop a app need to test in 200 millions of phones why each have a diferent version of java ME.

if you want, can check all the things here

The help for a unknown

Hi,

has been passed several years from when i start to work like a developer, in the road i found several people, asking for help or helping them. in the actual time, it’s huge amount of people what say “i support open source, i support the free distribution of the code and support the philosophy of the open source, what in her base, it’s helping each other”. the people say this, but the most of that aren’t kind or friendly when some people ask for help or newbies when need some support. i’m doing some jobs for a client in a vbulletin site, i need to install the TfSEO product, with this i have some problem (the site it’s some particular) and i asked several things to the developer (davide) to use it in the right form. the response has been fast and he give me all the tools to do what i need, he dont know me, i never talk to him, he dont know my name, but he waste her time to help me.

what i want to say with this? too much people talking about to change the world, helping other etc.. using the open source how excuse, but doing nothing.

conclusion: the open source and her philosophy it’s great but some community around it suck and departs the people from it.

Shadow.
